The 11th St. Nicholas Festival 2009 ** 4th / 5th December 2009
The annual festive favourite returns to Whitley Bay Town Centre with a French
and Northumbrian Farmers Market, fairground rides and street entertainment.
The market starts at noon on Friday 30th with local children taking part in
a lamplight procession from St Peters Church at 4pm. The festival also runs all day

Santa Claus will be dropping in for a welcome rest at his cosy grotto on St Mary's Island and to help guide
Santa on his way, the tower will be illuminated over the Christmas period.
The grotto has been organised by the council in partnership with the Friends of St Mary's Island.
Admission costs £3.25, which includes a gift for every child. Santa will be available at the above dates and
times until a half an hour before the advertised closing times

North Tyneside International Youth Football Tournament - 30th July to 3rd August 2008
Now in its 24th year, the tournament attracted over 180 teams in 2007 with boys and girls competing in various age
groups from as far as Canada, the USA and Europe, as well as teams from around the region and the rest of the
UK. The tournament has featured many players in the past who have gone on to play in the

Whitley Bay Super Sandcastle Competition - Sunday 17 August 2008
The competition take place on the beach at the foot of Watts Slope and starts at 11am until 3pm.
Judging at 2.30pm. Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade will be giving a number of vouchers - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each age category
Under 5's, 6 to 9 year olds and 10 to 12's as well as spot prizes for special effort and creativity. So get those buckets and
spades out and have some fun.

Whitley Bay 2nd Annual Festival of Motorcycles - Friday 8th to Sunday 10th August 2008
The Whitley Bay Festival of Motorcycles will be held from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th August 2008 on the Beaconsfield, Grand
Parade, Tynemouth NE30 4JF. Billed as "a celebration of all things motorised and 2-wheeled", the Festival will be a weekend
with something for everyone, families and motorcycle enthusiasts alike. There will be
displays of custom, classic and racing motorcycles, scooters and trikes, trade stalls and exhibitors. On Saturday afternoon, judging
of the bike show will take place following a Grand Cavalcade of motorcycles along the sea-front. Live music will be playing
over the weekend and top local bands will play the main marquee on Friday and Saturday

Scarecrow Festival - Saturday 6 October
SCARECROW FESTIVAL and COMPETITION Organised by WHITLEY BAY CHAMBER OF TRADE
Some 61 businesses are taking part in this years Best Dressed Window Display - a scarecrow theme.
The displays will be all over town and in the town centre on Saturday 6th October, the festival is designed to be fun and
will feature scarecrows of all sizes. The winner will be presented with the Chamber of Trade Shield. Come along on the day
and follow the trail and, as you browse the town's diverse range of shops, judge the scarecrows for yourself and see if
you agree with the judges decision. Nicholsons will also be holding a barbecue
outside the shop in Park View (weather permitting).

Beep Beep Day - Tuesday 19 June 2007
Apple Tumbles Drop-in at Whitley Bay Children's Centre is having a Road Safety Day for Childminders and Children (6 months to 4 years).
The children will be riding small sit and rides, and learning road safety at the same time. The centre also intends to raise money from
sponsorship for the charity - BRAKE (A Road Safety Charity). The children who took part last year and had a fabulous time.

North Tyneside has just announced that families are being invited to take part in a 10k family fun
walk at Whitley Bay Lighthouse on Sunday June 24.
The Stride out to the Lighthouse walk is funded by the Awards for All Big Lottery Fund and organised by North Tyneside Council,
The fun includes musical entertainment throughout the walk.

The Surfing Championship returns to Tynemouth again. Competitors will ride the surf competing for prize money in various divisions.
Scarecrow Shopping Street Festival - Saturday 23 September
WHITLEY BAY CHAMBER OF TRADE SCARECROW COMPETITION

The Monkseaton Morrismen will be performing their annual repertoire
of traditional morris dances outside the Ship Inn
They will see off the old year and bring in the New Year back with a
number of dances including "The Ampleforth Mummers Play" and the climax
of the performance will be "The Local Pitmans Rapper Sword Dance"

The Panama Swimming Club will be having there annual New Years Morning refreshing dip
in the North Sea - and everyone is welcome to join them !!

Glass of Wine on the Traders - Saturday 13 November
Traders in Park View, are planning a special event on Saturday 13 November to celebrate
their unique nature as one of the UK's few remaining high streets not dominated by typical
high street brands. The Traders will inviting customers to share a glass of wine whilst
enjoying their shopping. The wines on offer will be from all around the world will reflect
the range and variety of shops to be enjoyed in Park View.
Fireworks - Sunday 7 November
North Tyneside Council's official family fireworks display to be held on the North Links
Sunday 7th November.
Fireworks due to go off at 7pm precisely and likely to last about 15 minutes.
The event is free and their will be hot food and fairground rides (not free) in the Brierdene car park during the event.

St. Peter's Pantomime Society are performing Cinderella on
January 27th, 28th and 29th 2005, at The Crosskeys Hall, Elmwood Road,
Monkseaton. Performances Thurs.(27th) @ 6.30pm. Friday (28th) @ 7.00pm.
Saturday (29th) @ 2.30pm and 7.00pm. All proceeds to be shared between
Sargent Cancer Care for Children and the Crosskeys Hall Project.
