Now in its 24th year, the tournament attracted over 180 teams in 2007 with boys and girls competing in various age groups from as far as Canada, the USA and Europe, as well as teams from around the region and the rest of the UK. The Whitley Bay Festival of Motorcycles will be held from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th August 2008 on the Beaconsfield, Grand Parade, Tynemouth NE30 4JF.
Billed as "a celebration of all things motorised and 2-wheeled", the Festival will be a weekend with something for everyone, families and motorcycle enthusiasts alike. There will be displays of custom, classic and racing motorcycles, scooters and trikes, trade stalls and exhibitors. On Saturday afternoon, judging of the bike show will take place following a Grand Cavalcade of motorcycles along the sea-front.
Live music will be playing over the weekend and top local bands will play the main marquee on Friday and Saturday evenings.

SCARECROW FESTIVAL and COMPETITION Organised by WHITLEY BAY CHAMBER OF TRADE
Some 61 businesses are taking part in this years Best Dressed Window Display - a scarecrow theme. The displays will be all over town and in the town centre on Saturday 6th October, the festival is designed to be fun and will feature scarecrows of all sizes. The winner will be presented with the Chamber of Trade Shield. Come along on the day and follow the trail and, as you browse the town's diverse range of shops, judge the scarecrows for yourself and see if you agree with the judges decision. Nicholsons will also be holding a barbecue outside the shop in Park View (weather permitting).

Apple Tumbles Drop-in at Whitley Bay Children's Centre is having a Road Safety Day for Childminders and Children (6 months to 4 years). The children will be riding small sit and rides, and learning road safety at the same time. The centre also intends to raise money from sponsorship for the charity - BRAKE (A Road Safety Charity). The children who took part last year and had a fabulous time.

The Monkseaton Morrismen will be performing their annual repertoire of traditional morris dances outside the Ship Inn
They will see off the old year and bring in the New Year back with a number of dances including "The Ampleforth Mummers Play" and the climax of the performance will be "The Local Pitmans Rapper Sword Dance"

Traders in Park View, are planning a special event on Saturday 13 November to celebrate their unique nature as one of the UK's few remaining high streets not dominated by typical high street brands. The Traders will inviting customers to share a glass of wine whilst enjoying their shopping. Fireworks due to go off at 7pm precisely and likely to last about 15 minutes. The event is free and their will be hot food and fairground rides (not free) in the Brierdene car park during the event.
